This is the web site for the National Model Railroad Association.

There are tons of resources available through this site.

Next find the nearest hobby shop that deals in model trains. (Found on the NMRA web page)

They should help you decide what will work for you.

You need to decide on HO or O before starting.

The space available to you should help you decide that. O scale takes up much more space than HO (Half O).

Another place to look for help is your local train club. (Also found through the NMRA site). Many of these clubs have members who will help get you on the right track...pun intended.
