Train sets? Or Train Layout.
Are Trains considered a toy or are they considered a hobby?backgrounds for myspace
I didn't read the other answers, but I would say that they are both. Toy trains are bought for children and are usually inexpensive. They were great fun when I was a youngster.
There's a "little Johnie" joke that this reminds me of but would probably be inappropriate here so we won't go into that.
Older, grown up people collect and spend big bucks on trains. That would be considered either a hobby or a collection.
Either way I am sure it is a lot of fun for the person doing it.

Depends on who's using them. If it is an adult, I would say it's a hobby, but if it is a child, it is a toy. Adults and children tend to use trains differently. I usually hear them being called train sets.
i think that toys are used as to playing.
collecting trains and stuff are like a hobby..
got it??
I agree that it depends on who's playing with it, bu I als this it depends on the traon set itself.
There are many inexspensive plastic tain sets for children, but there is also an array of high quality metal model trains for adult collectors and hobbyists.
It think becomes for of a hobby what the craft element becomes involved. A lot of people spend time building their own track layouts and miniature towns for the trains to run in. To me, that' when it becomes more of a hobby.
Mine started as toys then became a hobby. I have sets, specific cars and locomotives, and a layout, where I run them. Sorry to be so muddy, but what you call them is fine, as long as you enjoy the hobby or the toys!

Model railroading lasts a lifetime.
Well, I think it can be a little bit of both.
